Common fixes

First launch is stuck downloading

The app fetches a small word list and embedding model on first launch (~30 MB). A flaky network can stall this. Close the app, reconnect to Wi-Fi, and reopen. The download resumes the next time.

A challenge link won't open the room

Challenge links look like app.hotandcold://challenge/… or https://hotandcold.app/play?challenge=…. Make sure the app is installed, then tap the link from your messaging app. On web, open the link in the same browser you play in so deep-link handoff works.

Daily puzzle won't load

Daily mode needs a network connection — the puzzle is scored on our servers so everyone gets the same result. If you're offline, Endless mode still works on your device.

I want to wipe my progress

Open Settings → Reset data in the app. You can reset daily stats, endless stats, or everything (including your challenge display name). Uninstalling the app also clears everything local.
