Most word games hand you one puzzle a day and send you away. Endless mode in Hot & Cold does the opposite: round after round, a fresh secret word every time, for as long as you feel like playing. It's the same game as the daily — you enter a word, and it comes back rated on meaning, 🧊 freezing when it's unrelated up to 🔥 blazing when you're closing in — just without the once-a-day gate.
Why play endless rounds?
- No daily limit. Endless has no guess cap and no round cap — solve one, start the next, repeat.
- A new secret every round. Each round pulls a different answer from the pool, so no two rounds play alike.
- Practice for the daily. The scoring and heat ladder are identical to the daily puzzle, so endless rounds are the fastest way to sharpen your instincts before the next one.
- Your own settings. Toggle hints on or off, show the secret's letter count, or add a countdown timer to play against the clock.
How a round works
Type any common noun. The game scores it against 14,828 words ranked by closeness to the secret — rank #1 is the secret itself, and lower numbers are hotter. Follow the heat: when a guess comes back warmer than the last, you're heading the right way. Solving a round can bank as much as 1,000 points — the opening 4 guesses are on the house, and the penalty only builds from there. Where you can play
Endless is free in your browser and in the iOS and Android apps. On mobile it even runs fully offline — the app bundles the word list, so you can play endless rounds on a plane with no connection. Prefer a shared puzzle? Try the daily word game, or take on friends in a word game with friends.
